  1. I wrote words! Words to add: [2,243] words, April 28th
  2. Black Dogs are my personal favorite, probably based on their diversity alone. While they are predominantly seen as a death omen, they can be benign as well. One creation myth was that the first person buried in a new cemetery would become one, guarding the dead and guiding souls safely into the after life. There are stories of guard dogs that never left their handler's or territory, even in death. On the other hand, you have Old/Black Shuck, who killed a group of people hiding in a church, meaning it was immune to sanctified ground. There was actually a story a few years ago about a massive dog skeleton found buried near where that event allegedly happened. There was some speculation that this was the dog, but it was not seven feet tall at the shoulder and not from the 1500's. It was the size of a great dane and from the 1800's. Why do scientists have to poo poo all the fun.
  3. My dad used to read The Lord of the Rings to me as a bedtime story. I grew up with my parents hosting their D&D group at our place as long as I can remember. Add to that some Disney and anime and you've got me.
  4. I wrote words! Previous month's total: 0 words Words to add: 5742 words New total: 5742 words
  5. RE: the City Can't tell if high fantasy, or living in the rural Midwestern US.
  6. Yep! I released thirty-ish monarchs of my own last summer and baby sat another fourty-ish for a few weeks. My insta is butterfly spam most of the summer. William is fun. He isn't very prominent in True Covenant until Erin is an adult, at which point she starts working for him. My vamps are a little different. I've been toying with the idea of writing a campy What to Expect When You're Infected guide a'la 1950's health PSAs to lay out their mythos. As for my old RP days, I was a GaiaOnline kid and I did 'literate' roleplaying. That just means it was in paragraph form instead of the asterisk kind.
  7. Name/Penname: EdelBeeRocker, you can call me Jess Age: 31 State/country: Ohio, USA Education: Associate's in something boring Hobbies and Favorites What are your hobbies? Coloring, photographing random animals, cooking, raising hot peppers and monarch butterflies, spending time outdoors with my pupperonis. What is/are your favorite book(s) and authors? Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman is probably my all time favorite. What is/are your favorite movie(s) and TV show(s)? I'm currently enjoying American God's. I can't wait for the last season of GoT and for Good Omens to start. Writing How long have you been writing? I have been writing in one form or another since I was 12 or 13. What was the first story you wrote that you remember? (Is it finished, and has anyone read it?) I did some super cringey fanfics back in the day. The first thing I wrote and liked was a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood where Hood was in a cult that served Granny and everyone but the Wolf died eating poisoned cookies. Tell us a little about your favorite character to write about. My three favorite characters are Erin, William and Joseph. Erin is the MC of The True Covenant. She is a teenager in the current WIP. She is the daughter of a monster hunter and a mage that retired from the life. She is a pretty crap mage in her own right. She is filled with good intentions and really really bad ideas. William is an elder vampire and the eldest practicing non-lich necromancer in my world. He is an absolute rat bastard, but most people think he's a pretty stand up guy because he does good deeds. They are all done for selfish reasons though. Joseph is a vampire hunter that was turned. He's just shy of 300, a night club owner and a psychonaut. He is deeply religious, which is why he didn't kill himself after he became a vampire. He has been living the life of a family man vicariously through his best friend from WWII. Tell us a little about a fantasy world you've created. The world of the True Covenant is the product of a forum RP I ran a long time ago. It is like our own in many ways. There are several organizations playing in the background to maintain the order of the world against magic and monsters. If anyone is interested, I think I still have a write up if all the organizations from back in the RP days Tell us a little about your current work in progress. How's it going? It's a long walk from Erin's intro to magic to the destruction of Narrowsville four years later. I've got about two and a half years written. Have you participated in NaNoWriMo? If so, how has your experience been? I don't know what that is so no. 🙂 Worldsmyths How did you find out about Worldsmyths? I was referred by another member in a FB fantasy writing group. What made you decide to join? It seemed very chill and reminds me of my Gaia days in some ways What do you hope to gain from Worldsmyths? Friends and feedback 🙂
