Hobbies and Favorites
What are your hobbies? Obviously writing and reading. Big animal lover - I have 4 cats, 2 dogs, and really want to get some farm animals soon. I love all kinds of rock and indie music. I love biology and computer science and hope to one day have a career that combines both, though I've got a lot of schooling left to do. I also play a lot of video games, currently been enjoying World of Warcraft, Slay the Spire, and replaying The Witcher 3. When I'm not writing my own stuff, I still sometimes do a bit of roleplaying but it can be hard for me to find the time.
What is/are your favorite book(s) and authors? Growing up, my favorites were the Harry Potter and Redwall series. Now, I definitely have less specific favorites but I never get tired of reading VE Schwab and Brandon Sanderson. Victor Hugo, Jane Austen, and Daphne du Maurier are my favorite classical writers.
What is/are your favorite movie(s) and TV show(s)? I love a ton of movies and television but my current favorite movies include Carol, Arrival, The Lion King, and Lilo & Stitch. As for tv, I love Killing Eve, the two Avatar series, Big Little Lies, and Stranger Things.
How long have you been writing? Since I could, honestly. Around the second grade.
What was the first story you wrote that you remember? (Is it finished, and has anyone read it?) I wrote my first story in the second grade and it was called Jimmy and the Attack of the Killer French Fries. I was a special child.
Tell us a little about your current work in progress. How's it going? My current main project definitely straddles the line between scifi and fantasy but it's going well. It's kind of a mashup murder mystery set in a world far advanced beyond our own, though with many of the same hangups. I also keep going back to a dragon-based fantasy world. I'm trying to do Camp NaNo this April to work on both, so that should be fun.
Have you participated in NaNoWriMo? If so, how has your experience been? I've participated for many years but I have never actually finished, mainly because November is traditionally a very busy month for me.
How did you find out about Worldsmyths? NaNoWriMo forums.
What made you decide to join? I've seen the site before and it always seems lovely, and I finally have time to join!
What do you hope to gain from Worldsmyths? Mainly looking for new friends who also enjoy fantasy and to hopefully become a better, more regular writer myself.
