What are your hobbies? Writing/Reading/Video Games
How long have you been writing? I've been writing seriously for the past 4 years. I started writing as a kid, drew my own illustrations, wrote childhood stories, the only one I remember is about the ABC's and a Dalmatian, and one about a fish in Spanish for class.
What was the first story you wrote that you remember? (Is it finished, and has anyone read it?) I wrote my first real epic fantasy novel in college but stopped before the epic battle scene and never picked it back up.
Tell us a little about your favorite character to write about. My favorite character's name is Nox. He started out as what I thought was a side kick character to his sister who I figured I'd fall in love with. BUt I started writing him first and fell absolutely in love with his quirky self. He is not a permanent part of my head, and he's with me all the time. Nox is loud and obnoxious with lots of mental health issues stemming from a childhood that wasn't the best in the world. But he's still kind and caring and in his actual story a born leader, even though he wants nothing to do with it. Most of the stories I'm writing at present are different versions of him. He's a little egotistical and writing anything else results in brain lock.
Tell us a little about a fantasy world you've created. I've created a lot of worlds over the years, but I'm currently writing in an alternate history sorta. It's 2017 but supernatural creatures exist but are hidden to the normal world. There is a law that prevents the revealing of self to a full blown human. It's dangerous to do that, you can get hunted and likely killed just for saying 'hey i'm a dragon' to a person. If you get caught. So there isn't a lot of historic lore for most of the populace, it's all the hidden things I get to develop. It's fun, without having to worry about EVERY single thing - just the fantastical things. No governments except for which the supernatural creatures govern themselves. Customs, buildings, no climates. It's easier and I don't get bogged down in the nitty gritty. Like I said I've build lots of worlds and never actually written in them until I took this alternate view on it.
Tell us a little about your current work in progress. How's it going? My current work in progress is in the editting phase. Well it's on hiatus at the moment while I tackle an AU story with Nox and his love, Alex for October/November (Nano story started early 😞 ) I have 5 books to edit for the current arc. I rewrote book 4, (book 1 is actually book 0 and a prequel to the main story) So after November probably won't get much done in December either I'll be tacking editing and revisions.
Have you participated in NaNoWriMo? If so, how has your experience been? Yes. I try to participate in NaNo every year. I first one during camp and that is what spurred on my writing to date. I love participating, I don't always hit 50K but I'm okay with that. As long as I tried.
How did you find out about Worldsmyths? Actually I found out through the NaNo forums looking for writing discord servers. And now here I am lurking more here.
What made you decide to join? I'm always looking for writing groups to learn from and find common friends.
What do you hope to gain from Worldsmyths? Friends who write and understand. Beta readers maybe in the future, comments critiques, but most of all just kindred souls who like to torture themselves too.
