  1. How can someone introduce themselves in a unique way i thought, After thinking and diving, i came up with slightly weird and funny way of introduction. Behold the tale, A small tale of Yaba the unexpected writer. In a small town around Belgium there was a 22 year old boy who hated books and anything close to writing, He walked around and traveled nowhere outside his small town, 'A sad little fellow, people said, for he doesn't look healthy and no one knows him dearly' ' I know him! some said, He likes to play games here and there and is very kind indeed, He is a very dear friend of mine, and sadly some people judge him because of his belly it seems! For Yaba as some people knew him was very big bellied indeed. One day Yaba realized that his belly was causing him struggles on his daily doings, From pain to broken beds, he thought and thought on why his belly was such a mess, After understanding on what has to be done he took his baggage and jumped on a train towards Zpm (Belgian Boot camp) Located near the sea the boot-camp served Yaba very well, Only there were rules in the school of not using phones, and any sort of entertainment, 'NO! How can i live without tv, my phone and games, Yaba said 'You have to follow the rules Yaba for it its healthier for you not to use any games, or screens, and be more active instead!, the nurse said And so Yaba followed the rules, And After 2 months he entered his favorite class and started speaking with his favorite teacher, 'How is the weight drop going Yaba, for it seems to me that you almost lost more then 50pouds, the old teacher said' 'Yes, yes my road towards a normal belly seems brighter, Yaba said poking his belly, But dear teacher, I almost hate to say it that i am bored out of my mind around here, There are loving people around me, Almost a perfect world it seems!, But again i can't hold back thinking on times were i played games and watched movies with amazing stories' 'But dear Yaba, the old teacher said, You can read books and maybe you can feel back home again, For i do know the rules around here of no screens and movies' 'That's different, Yaba said' 'No, my dear Yaba, it is not' And so Yaba started reading and reading and reading, when the boot-camp was over, Yaba not only felt grateful for losing 140pounds, He felt a hundred times more for the old teacher that gave him worlds upon worlds that would eventually end up helping Yaba to build the home he always desired.
  2. I'm JD Vollans, and this is an introduction. I'm 30 years old, a married parent of three, and a full-time spec fic writer. I stalked PB over here, but was too lazy to sign up for a while. I think I've had this tab up for two months, at least. Figured I'd settle in before July camp starts. I won't spend a lot of words here, but I look forward to getting to know you all.
  3. Basics: Penname: Skya Age: 20 State/country: United States Writing: How long have you been writing? I used to write a lot when I was younger - early teens, from what I can recall - before giving up and moving on to other things. Short stories, scene scribbles, even poetry. It wasn't until recently that I decided to rekindle my old passion. So, yeah, I haven't been writing for long. A good three years is all I can claim as experience, lol. What was the first story you wrote that you remember? (Is it finished, and has anyone read it?) During my early years, I joined an old writing site and published my short stories. Which weren't many, thankfully. Anyway, the only one I can remember is the one where a knight fights a giant undead centipede. A lot of other writers on the site liked it, but considering my other stories were trash-fire, it wasn't surprising. Tell us a little about your favorite character to write about. I don't have one yet. Tell us a little about a fantasy world you've created. Don't have that, either. Tell us a little about your current work in progress. How's it going? It's a short story. So far, I'm finishing up the outline and hope to start writing it soon. Let's see if my three years of experience can offer anything. Have you participated in NaNoWriMo? If so, how has your experience been? I signed-up for it, but dropped out. I'll stick to short stories. For now, anyway. Worldsmyths: How did you find out about Worldsmyths? Just looked up fantasy writing sites. Some other sites were too old for my taste and others generally focused on the craft - which is fine - but I definitely needed something that was a nice mix with fantasy being the main focus. What made you decide to join? I just started writing and I don't feel like sharing with people I know in real-life. So why not with internet strangers? What do you hope to gain from Worldsmyths? (Examples: Find a beta reader, get feedback, motivation, a sense of community, fine-tuning the craft, etc) Definitely a sense of community. Writing is a lonely hobby, so it helps to have a community to fall back on. While the site is relatively new, from I see through browsing, I do hope to learn a lot from you all. I'll be seeing you all around!
  4. So, I realized that I haven't updated my intro post, and rather than trying to edit it, I decided I may as well make a new one. 😛 Especially since the old one says I'm still 30 years old (if only). So, here we go! Basics Name/Penname: Ally/Jedi Knight Muse (well, that's not really a pen name, but it's my online handle I've been using for several years 😛 ) Age: -Sigh- I'm going to be 33 in roughly 23 days, according to my countdown app. State/country: Connecticut, United States. Education: High school, and two associates degrees. One in "general studies," and one in graphic design. Hobbies and Favorites What are your hobbies? Writing. Photography. I used to be into online role playing, but I realized that my "regular" writing was suffering, and I wasn't working on my novel attempts as much any more, so I decided to "retire" and focus on writing. I wanted a writing community that would help me get that focus back, so...that's how Worldsmyths was born! What is/are your favorite book(s) and authors? Juliet Marillier, Kristin Cashore, J.K. Rowling, Suzanne Collins, Rick Riordan. I love Cashore's Graceling realm trilogy. I love Marillier's Sevenwaters series. I did read 2/3rds of her Shadowfell trilogy but I never finished. What is/are your favorite movie(s) and TV show(s)? Game of Thrones, Supernatural, Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Golden Girls, Gilmore Girls, Criminal Minds, The Resident, Star Wars (original trilogy+Rogue One+Solo+new trilogy+prequel trilogy...mostly in that order), Labyrinth, The Princess Bride, various Disney movies, Ever After...a bunch of others. Writing How long have you been writing? XD Seriously, though, I think I was in 2nd or 3rd grade, so like...somewhere between 7 and 10 years old. I remember I wrote a "script" based on a game I used to play with a girl who lived down the street from me, and then it just kinda...spiraled from there. Especially once I got into Star Wars in 5th grade. So we're talking...25 years? Give or take? (Holy crap.) What was the first story you wrote that you remember? (Is it finished, and has anyone read it?) The first thing I ever remember writing was the "script" I mentioned up above, but the first story...hm. It's hard to say, because I barely remember any of them any more...which is actually really kind of sad. Tell us a little about your favorite character to write about. Hm. I love writing Merek. He's very fun, but that's probably because he's basically the male version of me, with magic. XD Super loyal, shy, kinda keeps to himself outside of close friends, smart. But it's been a long time since I've written anything for him. Arris is fun, too, but it's been a long time with him as well. For my current characters, Ivar is pretty fun. Honestly I'm not quite sure that I've nailed down any of the voices for the three main characters in the project they're in (Court of Shadows), though. Tell us a little about a fantasy world you've created. Fairies! Magic! Dragons! Medieval inspired lands! Um...yeah. 😛 I've been working on Kytherra since like...2011, but it's not very well developed by a long shot. I only just really recently (within the last year or so) started trying to work on world building, and right now I'm just focusing on the world building that's, like, relevant to my main project, Court of Shadows. So right now I know there's fairies, lots of magic, and dragons, and...such. Tell us a little about your current work in progress. How's it going? So, I got to 25k during NaNo 2018, and after NaNo ended I WAS going to focus on my other main project, Storms of Magic, that I've been working on for...almost three years now, but apparently my muse had other plans and I decided I wanted to work on Court of Shadows (aka my NaNo) instead. So now I'm working on...trying to re-figure the last half of the story, since part of the reason I stopped at 25k was because I started second guessing what I'd had outlined, and am going to work on continuing the first draft. I'm getting feedback from an alpha reader so that I can at least get a general idea of whether or not it's going in a good direction and such while I'm writing, and then...I'll probably end up putting it to the side once I finish writing it. My plan for Camp NaNo in April is to write a side novella-thing that would be like a prequel to Court of Shadows, so by March I plan on starting to outline for that...we'll see how far I've gotten with Court of Shadows by then, though I do really want to write the prequel thing. Have you participated in NaNoWriMo? If so, how has your experience been? Yep! I think I've participated since...2006? 2007? I don't even know, I lost track. Either way, it's been a long time. 25k was the most words I've ever written for it. Usually I end up giving up due to frustration/losing interest/getting stuck, but I was able to write a good chunk of it this time. Worldsmyths How did you find out about Worldsmyths? I created it. 😛 What made you decide to join? See above. What do you hope to gain from Worldsmyths? (Examples: Find a beta reader, get feedback, motivation, a sense of community, fine-tuning the craft, etc) See above. XD
  5. Basics Name/Penname: Rose Whitewater / Selenity Age: 32 Education: High School, some college, some certificate courses. Hobbies and Favorites What are your hobbies? Role-playing, reading, writing, singing, cooking, gaming, budgeting, blogging- cooking, writing, lifestyle, and financial. What is/are your favorite book(s) and authors? My fave genre to read is fantasy- be it high elves, werewolves, witches, or a bit of mysticism in a seemingly 'normal' environment. What is/are your favorite movie(s) and TV show(s)? I'm on a kdrama kick at the moment. But i'm often watching anime or re-watching one of my all time favorite movies: Limitless (or it's spinoff tv series), Harry Potter, Serenity (or the firefly series). Writing How long have you been writing? I published my first poem and short story when i was about 12? so roughly 20 years. What was the first story you wrote that you remember? (Is it finished, and has anyone read it?) The very first story i wrote has not been read by anyone and I still have. It's a story I wrote when I was 10 about reuniting with a parent and was a story I wrote for myself to deal with missing my bio father when my parents divorced. Tell us a little about your favorite character to write about. My favorite character is actually a character that is believed to be the main villian of one of my storie. They are very driven and passionate despite being someone who seems extremely cold at first meeting. Tell us a little about your current work in progress. How's it going? I have 4 or 5 wips going on. They are all going well and I think each project has passed the 25k mark at this point except for my newest one at 15k words. Three of my projects are currently in the revising stage at this point. The newest one is in stream of conscious writing and world building stages still. Have you participated in NaNoWriMo? If so, how has your experience been? Yes! It's one of my favorite exercises of the year 🙂 It took me a few years to successfully complete it but when I finally did it was worth it and now I know what works for me. Worldsmyths How did you find out about Worldsmyths? Penquin's post at 4thewords What made you decide to join? I loved the idea of a fantasy specific writing forum. What do you hope to gain from Worldsmyths? (Examples: Find a beta reader, get feedback, motivation, a sense of community, fine-tuning the craft, etc) A sense of community and a place to continue to learn and grow.
