  1. We decided to make this month's challenge easy, since we have the upcoming 6 month long writing challenge in March, and decided to make this month's challenge prompt a free write! This means that you can find your own prompt to respond to and/or submit a passage from something you're currently working on or have already written from a past project. If you are looking for some inspiration, we have a Pinterest here with a plethora of pins that might provide some inspiration! I also have my own Pinterest board here that might provide some inspiration as well (some of them might be the same as the ones in the Worldsmyths one). Submissions are due by 11:59 PM GMT-5 (12:00 midnight EST) on February 28th. All submissions must be written by you and must fit the fantasy genre. Word count: 5,000 words MAXIMUM. (Remember, you don't have to write 5,000 words, it just means that you can't surpass it.) Submissions: To submit, please submit your entry to the Library in the Flash Plus category. At the end of the month, please respond to the challenge information post with a link to your submission. If you have any questions, feel free to message @Jedi Knight Muse or ask in a reply to this post.
  2. We have three submissions for the January challenge! Please take a look at the following submissions and vote for the submission that best fits the prompts. Voting ends on February 6th at 11:59 PM. Please do not vote for yourself. The first prompt for the challenge was "beginning/resolutions," and the second was this picture: Here are the links to the submissions:

Please see this post for information about this month's challenge.
  4. Prompts: beginnings/resolutions. You can interpret this pretty much any way you can - i.e. the beginning of a family, of a story, of a war, etc. For resolutions, it could be more of a promise/oath thing. And/or Think about where this tree is, why it's there, who the person sitting below it is, etc, and use it as inspiration for your story! You can combine it with the first prompt or focus specifically on this image as a source of inspiration. Word Limit: No minimum; max of 5000 words Deadline: Thursday, January 31st, 11:59 pm GMT-5 If you're planning on entering, we'd really appreciate you RSVPing so we get an idea of what turnout will be! There's a maybe option if you aren't sure 🙂 How do I submit? Easy! Just add it as a story to the Library and tag it with "jan 19 challenge." You can comment here or on the calendar event if you want to make sure we don't miss your submission, but as long as you tag it correctly and submit on time we should see it! Voting will go up sometime the evening of the 31st or the following day.
  5. We had two submissions for the December challenge to vote for! Please take a look at the following submissions and vote for the submission that best fits the "cliffhanger" challenge prompt. Voting will end on January 12th at 11 59 PM. Please do not vote for yourself. Keep the prompt, "cliffhanger," in mind when voting!
